Sun City residents take honors in senior pageant
Del Webb's Sun City communities provide a lifestyle that may be the beauty secret of two Sun City Summerlin residents, who were crowned at July's 1998 Ms. Senior Nevada Pageant.
Gail Imazaki was crowned Ms. Senior Nevada; Beverly Shows was First Runner Up at the pageant for women ages 60 and older. Imazaki, 62, has been a Sun City resident since last year. She placed fourth runner up in the national pageant last month.
Since winning the crown, Imazaki said, she has been contacted by national and international Asian publications. The event was her second pageant experience, with the first in 1955 in Los Angeles. In the talent competition, she performed a hula dance to Italian opera music. Outside of beauty pageants, Imazaki is interested in healthcare reform for senior citizens.
Shows, 60, is a four-year resident of the community. "This was my first pageant experience, and I loved it," she said.
