Applications are now being accepted from young women interested in representing their community as 2001 Miss Elko USA and Miss Elko Teen USA.

Entrants to the contest must be unmarried women between the ages of 15 and 26 and residents of Elko. The deadline to enter the preliminaries is Sept. 6.

Contestants will represent Elko in the Miss Nevada USA and Miss Nevada Teen USA pageant which are the official preliminaries to the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants. The pageants are televised nationally on CBS.

The pageant, which consists of interview, swimsuit and evening gown competitions, will be held Oct. 6-8 at the Nicholas Horn Theater in the Community College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas.
