Farewell Message from Reyna Quijano,
1996 Miss Southern Nevada Teen USA
Words cannot describe the feeling of being crowned the first Miss
Southern Nevada Teen USA. Although my reign is at its end, the experiences
and memories will last me a lifetime.
There are so many opportunities that I am grateful for. One of which was
the privilege of representing and supporting the athletes of the Nevada
Special Olympics. Their hard work and determination made me realize what
all of us take for granted every day. I will never forget the
once-in-a-lifetime experience of volunteering to help with and attending
the 1996 Miss Universe Pageant. It was truly unforgettable!
My list of thank you's is endless. Debby, without you I would not be
standing here tonight. Your constant encouragement has gone further than
you will ever know. Jen, thank you for always being there to listen. You
will always be my best friend. Lou Garcia, your positive encouragement
reassured me with confidence. To all of my family, thanks. Without your
continued support my dreams and wishes would never be accomplished. Brett,
thank you for believing in me. You always find a way to put a smile on my
face, for which I am eternally grateful.
Dare I say how fortunate I was to have shared this year with such a
beautiful and articulate young woman as Shaynee Smith. Having you as a
role model makes me look forward to the future.
Mom and D.J., I know I put you through a lot. Your constant support and
late night talks do not go unnoticed. I love you!
To my successor, ahead of you lies a path of open doors and
opportunities. Never forget who helped you get there and cherish the
moments for soon they will be memories. |
