The Naval Aviation Choir From Pensacola, FL, the "Cradle of Naviation," comes the nationally famed Naval Aviation Choir. This choir is composed of flight students and instructors in the United States Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. The men and women of this a cappella chorus perform before civilian and military audiences. The choir has performed on the Miss USA Pageant, the "Good Morning, America" program, as well as appearances at the 1989 Presidential Inaugural Ball, Macy's Parade in Atlanta, GA, Astrodome in Houston, TX, Navy Fleet Week in San Francisco, CA, and at the 1990 International Airshow in Bermuda. Of the group appearing on the occasion, less than half will be singing with the choir six months later. The rapid turnover occurs as members transfer out of the Pensacola, FL, area and move on to more advanced flight programs. The choir is currently under the direction of Lieutenant Commander Denny R. Reid, who received his Wings of Gold as a Naval Flight Officer and served as a Tactical Coordinator and Mission Commander in the P-3 Orion "Sub Hunter" aircraft. |
